Sketch Frenzy Friday 04-18-14 A Little Vintage, maybe?

Hi Stampers:

It's Friday again and time for our awesome Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge.  I am your fearless designer this week, and here is my sketch:

And here is my creation:
This is a combination of cut card stock and two card kits.  The card base is Whisper White, the next layer is Bermuda Bay, embossed with the hexagon embossing folder, and the narrow strip is Coastal Cabana embossed with the Chevron embossing folder.  The flag, heart, button, and baker's twine are from the Happenings Card Kit, and the sentiment is a stamp from the Everyday Occasions Card Kit.  I stamped it with Stazon Jet Black ink before embossing the card stock.  The sponging was done in Soft Suede, and that's why I think the whole card is rather "vintage-y!"

Check out the other designer creations on our blog, Sketch Frenzy FridayAnd please add your own creation.  We'd love to see what you create!

Enjoy!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 03-07-14 Almost Monochromatic

Hi Stampers:

Well, it's been a while since I posted for Sketch Frenzy Friday.  If you missed me, I'm sorry.  Let me just say that February was a horrible month for me, but I am back and ready to entertain you with a new SFF post.  Our sketch this week was created by  Marisol:

And here is my creation based on the sketch:

As I said at the top, this is almost a monochromatic look.  I used Crisp Cantaloupe card stock and cut it at 4-14' X 11'.  I cut another piece of Crisp Cantaloupe 4' X 5-14' and used that piece for may stamping and embellishments.  The Crisp Cantaloupe thick bakers' twine and the cork flowers are part of the Sweet Sorbet Accessories that are a FREE item with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-Bration. I love that the flowers are self-stick--makes it easy to just pop them on the card. I also used another FREE SAB item--the Petal Parade stamp set--and stamped the uneven scallops border accent in Early Espresso.  The sentiment is from Sweet Essentials, and is also stamped in Early Espresso.  After stamping and embellishing I mounted the piece of Crisp Cantaloupe with dimensionals onto the base card.  I like this layered monochrome look.

I'll bet you'd like to see what the other designers created!  Just hop over to the Sketch Frenzy Friday Blog and check them out!  And don't forget to join us!  We love to see what you create from our sketches!

Enjoy!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 122812

Hi Stampers!

Boy, have I been AWOL!!!  My last post was Nov 12!!!  I think Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the several craft and vendor shows in which I participated sapped my strength.  But I'm back now and plan to post regularly!

Of course it's time for another Sketch Frenzy Friday creation.  Here is the sketch, created by Sharon Wheet:
This is such a cute sketch!  As you know, a sketch can be interpretated strictly or used as a starting point.  So my creation in My Digital Studio this week is definitely a loose interpretation of the sketch.  Take a look:

So where did I get the idea????  Why from My Digital Studio itself!!!  There is a designer card that looks very similar to this, and it even has the same greeting.  I changed the background paper, the snowflake, the strip of DSP and added the ribbon.  The colors are Baja Breeze, Real Red, Garden Green, Chocolate Chip, and Whisper White.  For the background snowflakes, I changed the opacity to 50%, so that they would be less prominent than the heart, mittens, and ribbon.  I would love to know what you think of my little project, so feel free to leave a comment if you like!

As you know, I am linking you back to the SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY BLOG, where you can see what the other designers have created.  I have already looked at them, and they are wonderful!!

Hi Stampers:

It's that awesome day of the week again-FRIDAY!!  And time for more Sketch Frenzy Friday!  Today we have a cute sketch from Maria:
And here is my card based on Maria's great sketch:
As I was making my card, I imagined that my little witch was playing hide and seek and disappeared leaving her boots and hat behind.  I decorated her boots with a little bling-rhinestones, and she is hiding behind the Spooky greeting and her Googly eyes are bugging out trying to see what's going on.  Her little frog friend is waiting for her to reappear!

Here are the supplies I used:

Sketch Frenzy Friday-9/21/12

Hi Stampers:

It's Friday and time once again for Sketch Frenzy Friday!  Today I am the designer and here is my sketch:
I LOVE this sketch, even if I did design it myself.  My only problem was, I couldn't translate it to paper!  So I used My Digital Studio instead.  And I am still on a Halloween kick.  So here is my creation:

I love the colors of Halloween and tried to get all my favorites into this card:  Pumpkin Pie, Gumball Green, Rich Razzleberry, Basic Black, and Whisper White.   I used the Monster Munchies designer template for the black with pumpkin stars and for the image of the spider cider.  The greeting is from the Spooky Things stamp brush set.  Hope you like it!!

Time to see what Maria is up to, so let's go visit her BLOGWhy not play with us this week?  Just upload to our SFF BLOG.

Sketch Frenzy Friday-Something Different

Hi Stampers:

Today is officially Sketch Frenzy Friday! LOL!  As if you didn't know that!  Here is our sketch, created by Deb Currier:

And here's my creation:

When I looked at the sketch, I thought about using Thoughts and Prayers, because of the tree.  Then I was looking through all the stuff wonderful items I ordered from the Holiday Catalog, and realized I hadn't used ANY of the Halloween items.  So I thought about the Ghoulish  Googlies Designer Kit--Googly Ghouls stamp set, 20 printed tags, 10 glassine bags, 50 self-adhesive backed googly eyes and 10 pieces of Pumpkin Pie/Whisper White Baker's Twine.  Add some Howlstooth and Scaringbone (don't you just love the play on words "houndstooth and herringbone"?) Designer Series Paper, some Tangerine Tango, Basic Black, and Gumball Green card stock, and we have a winner!!!  The coordinating green is supposed to be Lucky Limeade, but Gumball Green came to hand first, so I used it instead.  Somehow, when I was planning the card, I didn't remember that the scallops went across under the image.  I cut the strip of scallops with the Tasteful Trim die and the Big Shot.

That's it for me.  Now go see what MARIA has created.  And please join us and upload your interpretation of the sketch to our SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY BLOG.

SFF 8-24-12 Texture and MDS

Hi Stampers:

Each week when I look at the sketch for Sketch Frenzy Friday, I try to decide if I have time to create a traditional card, or if I want to create one in MDS.  Every sketch is a new challenge for me.  Sometimes my mojo doesn't want to work and my creativity is down the drain.  Sometimes, I immediately know what I want to do.  When I saw the sketch this week, I swung back and forth between creating a traditional card and creating an MDS project, but finally decided to use MDS, because texture in MDS is something I had been wanting to try.  Here is the sketch for this week:
The sketch was created by Tina Munzke, and as you can see, she instructed us to use "some kind of texture."  So here's what I created in MDS:

For the texture at the top, I used the Vintage Overlays, which are digital textures.  I used the square punch to create the shape, and then filled it with the texture.  I double clicked on the punch, then moved the paper around in the punch until I had the texture I wanted.  The leaves are from the French Foliage stamp brush set and I used the following colors for them--Summer Starfruit, Poppy Parade, Soft Suede.  They are "mounted on a strip of Very Vanilla.  The sentiment is from the All Holidays stamp brush set.  The base of the card is Cajun Craze, a color I don't use much, except for autumn cards.

Enough from me.  Let's go see what MARIA is up to this week.  You can play along with us too.  Upload your creation at our SFF BLOG.

Enjoy!

Sketch Frenzy Friday-I CAN create without MDS!!!

Hi Stampers:
One of my friends, after looking at my blog, asked me if I could only be creative in MDS?  After I got over my shock, I thought about it and realized I had been creating a lot in MDS, but not so much with paper, stamps and ink.  So for my SFF sample today, I created a traditional card with paper, ink and stamps!

Here's our sketch, created by Tammy Fite:

And here's my sample:

My picture is a little blurry, and I must apologize for it.  I have misplaced my camera, so I took this picture with my BlackBerry, so it's not as sharp as I would like.  Here's what I used for the card:

  • Razzleberry Splash Simply Scrappin' Kit--item number 126930 pg. 168
  • Itty Bitty Banners stamp set--item number 126255 (clear), 126257 (wood) pg. 134
  • Bitty Banners Framelits--item number 129267, pg, 191
  • 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon in Rich Razzleberry--item number 126876, pg. 173
Now it's time to check out what MARIA has created.  And don't forget--you can join us.  Just upload your creation on our  SFF BLOG.

Sketch Frenzy Friday-More MDS

Hi Stampers:

It's Friday again and time for another Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge.  Here's our sketch this week, created by Robbie Rubala:
And here is my MDS creation:

I don't know why I like doing these challenges in MDS.  Maybe it's because MDS is FUN!!!  And it has such a wide variety of images to use.  Plus, retired items are always current in MDS. Here's what I used:
  • Cameo Coral base
  • Wonderful Whimsies DSP
  • Hello Friend stamp brush
  • Poppy Parade grosgrain ribbon with lightened opacity to get close to the Cameo Coral color
  • A flower brad
  • A colored rhinestone
It's time to travel on to MARIA'S BLOG and see what she's created.  Why not make your own project and upload it on our SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY BLOG.  We'd love to have you play with us.

Enjoy!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday-Summer Smooches

Hi Stampers:

It's time once again for Sketch Frenzy Friday.  Today is special in the Stampin' Up! world because we are right in the middle of our annual demonstrators' convention.  Unfortunately, I am not there (sigh, boo hoo).  However, in the effervescent spirit of Convention, I chose to make a card using the Bright Blossoms stamp set, and Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper, and the new Daffodil Delight seam binding ribbon.  But first, here is our sketch this week, created by Maria:
GREAT sketch, Maria!!!!

And now, here is my creation:

I have to apologize for the picture--I am still trying to learn this new laptop, and I haven't quite gotten the photo program under control.  You'll notice that I altered the sketch a little--not quite as many colors of DSP, and I left off the circle at the bottom of the scallop circle element, changed the shape of THAT element, and left off the brads.  I thought brads or buttons micht have been too busy with the circles on the DSP!

Time to jump over to MARIA'S BLOG to see what she has created.  And remember--you can play along with us and upload your creation to our SFF BLOG.

ENJOY!

Looks a little complicated, but believe me it is easy!  A little cutting, a little layering, a little ribbon and you're done.  In the case of my sample (below), I used My Digital Studio to do the cutting, layering, ribbon, etc.  Here is my creation:

This is what I used:
  • Everything Eleanor Digital download
  • Calyso Coral
  • Soft Suede
  • Soft Suede Digital Seam Binding Ribbon
  • Fabulous Phrases Digital download
That's it for me.  Hop over to MARIA'S BLOG to see what she has created for us.  And please visit our MAIN BLOG and join us by uploading your creation!
