SFF062014--A Baby Card

Hi Stampers!

It's Sketch Frenzy Friday time again!  We have a great sketch from Patrice:
And here is the baby card I decided to make:
The daughter of some friends recently gave birth to a darling little girl.  This is their first grandchild, and want I wanted to let them know how happy we are for them!  Appropriately, I decided to use some of the Lullaby DSP on the card.  It has colors I would never have thought to use together:  Coastal Cabana and Hello Honey, but surprisingly, they look pretty good together.  In addition to the two stamp sets and one of my favorite punches, I tied a piece of Hello Honey Satin Stitched Ribbon around one of the new In Color Printed Clothespins--LOVE them!!

Hopefully, you'll have time today to check out the other designers' great cards.  Just visit our blog  Sketch Frenzy Friday

Here's a list of the items I used:

Sketch Frenzy Friday-02-07-14 A Valentine

Hi Stampers!

It's the first Friday in February, and time for another great Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge.  I have been seeing a lot of Valentine ideas on the web, and decided to jump on the Valentine  band wagon with my SFF creation this week.  But first--our sketch from Jennifer Kay:
And here is my card:
As I said earlier, this is my first valentine creation this year.  My goal was to use some hearts, but make it a card that could be used for more than just a Valentine card, so I used a sentiment from the stamp set A Dozen Thoughts.  With that sentiment, this card could be for Valentine's Day, or as a "thinking of you," or some other occasion card.  Here's what I used on the card:
  • A Dozen Thoughts stamp set:  131056(w), 131059(c)
  • Coastal Cabana card stock: 131297
  • Fresh Prints DSP Stack (132996)
  • Silver Glimmer Paper (124005)
  • Banners Framelits (132173)
  • Hearts A Fluttler Framelits (130159)
  • Hearts Collection Framelits (125599)
  • Decorative Dots TIEF-a FREE Sale-a-Bration item with $50 purchase (133520)
  • Pool Party Twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack--also a FREE Sale-a-Bration item with a $50 purchase (133522).  It seems to me to be a dark Pool Party and matches the Coastal Cabana card stock pretty well!
  • Early Espresso Ink Pad (126974)
I love the sketch that Jennifer created, and I am happy with my card.  It just makes me happy to look at it!!
Don't forget--you can see all of the designers' cards on our Sketch Frenzy Friday Blog and you can also play along with us by using the inLinkz tool on the blog.  We encourage you to use all Stampin' Up! product in your designs.  We are all Stampin' Up! demonstrators and love to use SU! products.  And we love to see the many ideas that can be created with these products!

Enjoy!

Sketch Frenzy Friday-01-17-2014

Happy Friday Stampers!

It's time for another fabulous Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge.  We have been on hiatus the last two weeks because we have been revamping our sketches and our designers!  We have a new list of designers.  You can find all of them listed in my left sidebar.  What hasn't changed is how you view our creations.  All of them are posted on our SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY BLOG(click on the words to go there)

Here is the sketch for this week, created by Tammy Baldwin:
And here is what I created:
I turned the sketch sideways and added an extra layer-embossed with the Fancy Fan TIEF.  Instead of the three elements--like brads or buttons--below the greeting, I used a multi-looped bow made from the Crisp Cantaloupe twine which is part of one of the FREE Sale-a-Bration items.  Sale-a-Bration begins Jan. 28.

Here's a list of the other items I used on this card:
  • Calypso Coral, Whisper White, Tangerine Tango card stock
  • Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper
  • Circles Framelits
  • Scalloped Oval Punch
  • Express Yourself clear mount stamp set (Hostess item)
  • Early Espresso Ink
  • Elegant Butterfly Punch
  • Perfect Polka Dots TIEF
Please join us!  You can upload your creation using the link on our blog, and go there to check out all the projects from out designers this week,

Enjoy!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 05-17-13

Hi Stampers:

It's Friday again and time for another awesome sketch and card!  Today our sketch was created by....drum roll, please, ME!  I had a lot of fun with this sketch, both creating it and then making a card based on it.  So first of all, here's the sketch:
And here is my card:
This card has two sneak peek items on it.  The stripes were created with the new Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape, and the butterfly was punched from the new Gingham Garden Designer series paper.  Both of these items will be available in the new IBC which debuts on May 31, 2013.  I also used:
  • Daffodil Delight card stock
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Beautiful Butterfly punch
  • Wacky Wishes stamp set--retiring June 3
  • Early Espresso Classic Ink Pad
  • Rhinestone Basic Jewels
  • 5/8" Flower Trim--gone after May 31
  • Melon Mambo Classic Ink Pad
  • Daffodil Delight Classic Ink Pad
  • Island Indigo Classic Ink Pad--retiring as an In Color, BUT coming into the Core Colors!! Yay!!
Be sure to stop at our Sketch Frenzy Friday Blog and check out what the other designers have for us this week!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 03-08-13 A Banner Day

Hi Stampers!

Did you miss me?  I have been MIA the last couple of weeks due to family doings, work, and other assorted commitments.  I had the wonderful opportunity to speak at my church's Lenten Dinner/Study about my love of and joy in stamping and the spiritual connection of helping others with my stamping.  While preparing that talk, I really thought about why I love stamping so much. Hopefully, I'll be able to share more about that in some future posts.  But right now, it's Sketch Frenzy Friday time and we have a great, simple sketch from Deb Currier to play with:

Isn't this a cool looking sketch?  It is simple and classy--great job Deb!  Now here is my card:

Our Lenten series, which I mentioned above, features members of our congregation speaking about their artistic talents.  I spoke last Wednesday, and this Wednesday we had 3 people who are gardeners speak about gardening, conservation, and their love of nature.  Since I am on the committee that organized this series, I am sending out thank you notes to all the speakers.  I thought the bloomin' marvelous phrase from the Sale-a-Bration stamp set of the same name would be perfect for the thank you notes for our gardeners.  Other items I used on this card:
  • Primrose Petals, Soft Suede, and Very Vanilla card stock
  • Tea for Two Designer Series Paper
  • Delicate Designs TIEF
  • Apothecary Accents Framelits and Hearts a Flutter Framelits
  • Early Espresso ink (my FAVORITE) for stamping greetings!)
  • Basic Pearls
I used the Hearts a Flutter banner framelit to cut out the banners.  So how did I get them longer than the framelit???  Simple--I cut strips of the DSP and Soft Suede card stock slightly narrower than the width of the inside measurement of the framelit, put one end of the strip under the banner edge and pulled the remainder of the strip over the top of the square end of the framelit, ran it through the Big Shot and VOILA--a long strip with a banner end!  Easy peasy!

Well, I'm sure by now you're ready to go to the SFF blog to see all of the designers' cards.  Don't forget--you can join us.  We love to see your creations!  Just use our Linky tool that you will find on the blog.

Enjoy!

Looking for Spring! Sketch Frenzy Friday 01-25-13

Hi Stampers:

Well, winter has kicked in with a vengeance in the Ohio Valley!!  Our lows the past couple of days have been in the single digits and teens, and the highs haven't made it out of the twenties!  So of course I am looking for Spring!!  If I can't have it outside, I can certainly have it with stamping!!  Our sketch this week was created by--drum roll, please--ME!  Here it is:
And since I created the sketch this week, I thought it only fair to actually stamp and create a REAL card--not an MDS card.  I LOVE making cards in MDS, especially when my life is so rushed that I don't have time to stamp!!  I also LOVE stamping!!  And here is my creation/interpretation of my own sketch:
Here's what I used:
  • So Saffron (#126957) and Very Vanilla (#101650) cardstocks
  • Tea for Two Designer Series Paper (#129311 in the Spring catalog)
  • Secret Garden stamp set (#129141-wood #129144-Clear) and matching framelits (#129372)--both in the Spring catalog
  • Natural 7/16" Trim Ribbon (#129287 in the Spring catalog)
  • Decorative label punch (#120907) and 3/4" circle punch (#119873)
  • Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set (#129651-wood #129654-clear)--available FREE during Sale-a-Bration with a $50 purchase!
  • Rhinestone Basic Jewels (#119246)
  • Tangerine Tango (#126946) and Early Espresso (#126974) ink pads (did I ever tell you that Early Espresso has become my go-to color for stamping sentiments?)
  • Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the flower and the label with the greeting (#104430)
  • Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (#127023)
And that's my card!  I am now linking you to the SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY BLOG  where you can check out what the other designers have done with this sketch.  Why not join us?  There are instructions on the blog detailing how to link your creation to the blog.  We'd LOVE to see what you create!!

A Bit of Spring--Sketch Frenzy Friday 1-11-13

Hi Stampers:

It's Friday again and time for another awesome sketch and project to show you.  It was Deb's turn to give us a sketch.  Here's her sketch:

I love her sketch!  As I've done a lot lately, I created a card in MDS following her sketch:

The colors I used are Daffodil Deight, Wild Wasabi, Soft Suede, Early Espresso.  The banner strip under the flower is Tea Time II, pattern 2.  The flower is from the Bright Blooms embellishments and the stamp brush is from the 2013 Month by Month Calendar download.

As you know, I am linking you to our main blog, SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY, where you can see all of the designers' creations.  Check them out--they are AWESOME!

Enjoy!

Sketch Frenzy Friday--It's Christmas!!!

Hi Stampers:

Yes it's Christmas! And I am posting my first Christmas Card of the Season! It just so happens that the sketch is my design (it was my turn to supply the sketch)! However, this time, the card actually came BEFORE the sketch. I designed the card for a swap with other SU! demos, and liked the design so much, that I decided to use the sketch for my contribution to SFF for today. Here is my sketch:

And here is my card:

As you can tell, I didn't exactly follow the sketch! I did not include the ribbon and tag, and also did not put a sentiment on it. I was thinking that a sentiment would block the embossing folder snowflakes, so left it off. Here is the recipe:

  • Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Whisper White Cardstock

  • A Beautiful Season stamp set

  • Stazon Jet Black and Early Espresso Inks

  • Bird and holly colored with Pastels and Blender pen

  • Scallop Oval die and Big Shot

  • Cherry Cobbler quilted satin ribbon

  • Northern Flurry embossing folder

That's all from me today! Let's click over to MARIA'S BLOG to see what she's created. And you can always up load your own creation or start the mini blog tour at the SFF BLOG.

Enjoy!

Sketch Frenzy Friday-A Sort-of Masculine Card

Hi Stampers:

Whoo Hooo! It's Friday!! And time for GREAT sketch, created by Maria:

Such a wonderful sketch! And here's my creation based on the sketch:

I had a package of Well Worn Designer Series Paper that was calling to me, so I cracked it open for this project. The card base is Soft Suede textured card stock. The DSP was cut into 2 strips-one 1"X4-1/4" and the other is 2"X4-1/4". You can't really tell it, but the Early Espresso circle underneath the white scallop circle is textured with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. The circle piece is Early Espresso, as is the Decorative Label Punch. The stamp is Young Vermillion (spelled wrong in the catalog--should be vermilion--I am anal about spelling!) from the A la Carte section of the catalog and was stamped with Early Espresso on Whisper White. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and was also stamped with Early Espresso on Whisper White. I also used a length of Early Espresso 1/4" grosgrain ribbon and a length of the 5/8" Victoria Crochet ribbon.

Now on to MARIA'S BLOG to see how she interpreted her own sketch! You can also go to our SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY BLOG and play along with us!

Sketch Frenzy Friday--A 10 minute Card

Hi Stampers!

Woo Hoo! It's Friday! We have another great sketch for you this week, created by the awesome Jennifer Weide:

I love this sketch! And I was able to create a card in 10 minutes--some kind of record for me! I usually agonize over what I'm going to create for this challenge, but this week it was easy peasy!
Here is my creation:

Here's what I used:

  • Card base of Early Espresso

  • Scallop circle and 3" circle and small scallop circle cut with the Big Shot from N*E*W Spice Cake Designer Series Paper--available in the N*E*W Holiday Mini. (See my side bar for more information and to order) I used the two scallop circles die and the 3" circle die (already said that didn't I!!)

  • Sentiment stamped with Early Espresso ink on So Saffron card stock and punched with the word window punch. I sponged the edges with the same ink. (Have I mentioned that I LOVE Early Espresso for stamping sentiments?)

  • Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon

Well, let's hop on over to PATRICE's BLOG for another take on this sketch, OR you can start at the beginning of our mini tour by clicking on the SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY BLOG.

Sketch Frenzy Friday--What WAS I thinking?!?

Hi Stampers:

It's Friday, Friday, FRIDAY!!! Time for another Sketch Frenzy Friday! Here's our sketch from Angela Walters:

Here's my card:

You know, there's a reason why Stampin' Up! pairs Designer Series Paper, punches, and stamp sets together in product suites, so WHAT WAS I THINKING to use the Charming stamp set with the pennant punch and Just Add Cake DSP? Don't know--but it kinda works I think. At least the colors do!

  • Baja Breeze card base

  • Layer of Early Espresso

  • Layer of skinny striped Just Add Cake DSP

  • Scalloped pennants punched out of Peach Parfait dotted side of Just Add Cake DSP

  • Three images from Charming stamped with Early Espresso

And there it is! Another SFF card from me!

Sketch Frenzy Friday-A Simple MDS Card

Hi Stampers:

It's Friday--YAY!! I love Friday's and I love doing the Sketch Frenzy Friday challenges! Today we have a simple but wonderful sketch from Tina Munzke:

And here's my MDS card:

I used the following in My Digital Studio:

  • Daffodil Delight base

  • Layer of Early Espresso in an elongated 1-1/14" square punch

  • Layer of Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper in an elongated 1-1/4" square punch

  • Modern Label Punch in Early Espresso

  • Modern Label Punch in Whisper White

  • 1-1/4" striped Daffodil Delight ribbon

  • the sentiment is from the Fabulous Phrases stamp brush set

  • And I used the drop shadow feature on all elements, which I think makes the design look more like a REAL card!

Now it's time to check out all the other samples on our mini tour. Click MARIA'S BLOG to go to the next stop on the tour OR click SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY to go to the beginning of the tour, or to add YOUR sample. We would love to see what you create!
