Sketch Frenzy Friday 07-26-13

Hi Stampers:

It's Friday again!!!  Time for another Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch and creation.  I swear these weeks are flying so fast, I can hardly keep track of them!  Oh well!  Here's our sketch, created by Patrice:

And here is my card:
It is a larger-than-standard card.  As I was working with all the elements, I couldn't fit them on a standard 4-1/4" X 5-1/2" card, so I decided to use a 5-1/2" X 5-1/2" square card.  And, no, Stampin' Up! doesn't sell large square envelopes, BUT, you CAN make one with the Simply Scored tool and the Diagonal Score Plate.  AND soon you'll be able to buy the new Envelope Punch Board to make any size envelopes.  Stay tuned to this blog for more details.  In the meantime, here is what I used for this project:
  • Chalk Talk stamp set  w-130631, c-130634, pg. 12
  • Label Something stamp set  w-130595, c-130598, pg. 42
  • Chalk Talk Framelits  129983, pg. 187
  • Hexagon Punch  130919, pg. 180
  • Very Vanilla cardstock 101650, pg. 145
  • Baked Brown Sugar cardstock  131296, pg. 141
  • Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper  130814, pg. 154
  • Epic Day This and That Washi Tape  131269, pg. 155
  • Candy Dots (Subtles)  130933. pg. 147
  • In Color Boutique Details  130938, pg. 169
In case you're wondering, I created the Baked Brown Sugar frames for the Chalk Talk labels, by tracing the outer edge of the framelit and cutting it out by hand.

Well, time for me to sign off!  Please go to our SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY BLOG to check out all the designers' creations AND add your own.  We would love to see what YOU create!

Enjoy!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 06-07-13

Hi Stampers:

Boy, these Fridays are sure rolling around quickly these days.  It's time for another fabulous Sketch Frenzy Friday.  The sketch this week was created by Robbie:

Here is my interpretation:

I can't seem to get away from using the combination of Melon Mambo, Island Indigo, and Daffodil Delight!  Here's what I used:

  • Cardstock:  Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight
  • Happy Birthday stamp from the retired Ronald McDonald House stamp set called Moving Forward.  (I was actually looking for another set to use, but couldn't find what I wanted and this one was handy, so you know what happened--I used a retired stamp--my bad!)
  • Simply Pressed Clay and buttons mold
  • Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Island Indigo Stampin' Write Markers to color the buttons after they were dry
  • Fancy Fan TIEF
  • Bitty Banners Framelits--I traced the outside edge of the framelit onto Melon Mambo cardstock to create the layer for the banner.
  • Top Note Die
  • Big Shot machine
  • Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper
Since the whole card is white, I gussied up the inside also:
I cut two Top Note die cuts--one in white that I trimmed at the dotted line, and one out of Gingham Garden DSP to layer it on.  I think it gives it a nice look on the inside.

Don't forget:  you can show us your interpretation of the sketch this week by uploading it on the SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY BLOG, using the Linky tool.  You can also see all of the designers' cards on the blog.

Enjoy!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 03-08-13 A Banner Day

Hi Stampers!

Did you miss me?  I have been MIA the last couple of weeks due to family doings, work, and other assorted commitments.  I had the wonderful opportunity to speak at my church's Lenten Dinner/Study about my love of and joy in stamping and the spiritual connection of helping others with my stamping.  While preparing that talk, I really thought about why I love stamping so much. Hopefully, I'll be able to share more about that in some future posts.  But right now, it's Sketch Frenzy Friday time and we have a great, simple sketch from Deb Currier to play with:

Isn't this a cool looking sketch?  It is simple and classy--great job Deb!  Now here is my card:

Our Lenten series, which I mentioned above, features members of our congregation speaking about their artistic talents.  I spoke last Wednesday, and this Wednesday we had 3 people who are gardeners speak about gardening, conservation, and their love of nature.  Since I am on the committee that organized this series, I am sending out thank you notes to all the speakers.  I thought the bloomin' marvelous phrase from the Sale-a-Bration stamp set of the same name would be perfect for the thank you notes for our gardeners.  Other items I used on this card:
  • Primrose Petals, Soft Suede, and Very Vanilla card stock
  • Tea for Two Designer Series Paper
  • Delicate Designs TIEF
  • Apothecary Accents Framelits and Hearts a Flutter Framelits
  • Early Espresso ink (my FAVORITE) for stamping greetings!)
  • Basic Pearls
I used the Hearts a Flutter banner framelit to cut out the banners.  So how did I get them longer than the framelit???  Simple--I cut strips of the DSP and Soft Suede card stock slightly narrower than the width of the inside measurement of the framelit, put one end of the strip under the banner edge and pulled the remainder of the strip over the top of the square end of the framelit, ran it through the Big Shot and VOILA--a long strip with a banner end!  Easy peasy!

Well, I'm sure by now you're ready to go to the SFF blog to see all of the designers' cards.  Don't forget--you can join us.  We love to see your creations!  Just use our Linky tool that you will find on the blog.

Enjoy!

Looking for Spring! Sketch Frenzy Friday 01-25-13

Hi Stampers:

Well, winter has kicked in with a vengeance in the Ohio Valley!!  Our lows the past couple of days have been in the single digits and teens, and the highs haven't made it out of the twenties!  So of course I am looking for Spring!!  If I can't have it outside, I can certainly have it with stamping!!  Our sketch this week was created by--drum roll, please--ME!  Here it is:
And since I created the sketch this week, I thought it only fair to actually stamp and create a REAL card--not an MDS card.  I LOVE making cards in MDS, especially when my life is so rushed that I don't have time to stamp!!  I also LOVE stamping!!  And here is my creation/interpretation of my own sketch:
Here's what I used:
  • So Saffron (#126957) and Very Vanilla (#101650) cardstocks
  • Tea for Two Designer Series Paper (#129311 in the Spring catalog)
  • Secret Garden stamp set (#129141-wood #129144-Clear) and matching framelits (#129372)--both in the Spring catalog
  • Natural 7/16" Trim Ribbon (#129287 in the Spring catalog)
  • Decorative label punch (#120907) and 3/4" circle punch (#119873)
  • Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set (#129651-wood #129654-clear)--available FREE during Sale-a-Bration with a $50 purchase!
  • Rhinestone Basic Jewels (#119246)
  • Tangerine Tango (#126946) and Early Espresso (#126974) ink pads (did I ever tell you that Early Espresso has become my go-to color for stamping sentiments?)
  • Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the flower and the label with the greeting (#104430)
  • Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (#127023)
And that's my card!  I am now linking you to the SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY BLOG  where you can check out what the other designers have done with this sketch.  Why not join us?  There are instructions on the blog detailing how to link your creation to the blog.  We'd LOVE to see what you create!!

Enjoy!!
