Sketch Frenzy Friday 05-31-13 Today is the Day!!

Hi Stampers:

Yes, it's Friday and time for a Sketch Frenzy Friday, BUT it is also New Catalog Day!!  That's right--the NEW 2013-2014 Stampin' Up! catalog goes live at noon Mountain Daylight Time.  There are SO many new items in it that I just LOVE, and I am going to show you two of them with my card today.  But first, let's take look at the sketch, created by Patrice:
Great Sketch!!  And here's what I did with it:
I kept it pretty simple--haven't added a sentiment yet--but I think it looks elegant.  Here's what I used:
  • Pool Party Core'dinations card stock
  • Whisper White card stock
  • NEW Wildflower Meadow stamp
  • NEW Simply Pressed Clay and Blossom Mold--the three little flowers above the Pool Party oval
  • So Saffron, Island Indigo, Pool Party, and Wild Wasabi Stampin' Write Markers
  • Labels Collection Framelits
  • Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folder
  • Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder
  • Extra Large Oval Punch
  • Stampin' Sanding Block (with the extra fine paper).  I lightly sanded the Pool Party card stock after embossing.
Don't forget--you can join us in our creative journey.  All you have to do is create something following the sketch--it doesn't have to be a card--and upload it to the SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY blog!  And don't forget to check out the other designers' creations!

Enjoy!

A Bit of Spring--Sketch Frenzy Friday 1-11-13

Hi Stampers:

It's Friday again and time for another awesome sketch and project to show you.  It was Deb's turn to give us a sketch.  Here's her sketch:

I love her sketch!  As I've done a lot lately, I created a card in MDS following her sketch:

The colors I used are Daffodil Deight, Wild Wasabi, Soft Suede, Early Espresso.  The banner strip under the flower is Tea Time II, pattern 2.  The flower is from the Bright Blooms embellishments and the stamp brush is from the 2013 Month by Month Calendar download.

As you know, I am linking you to our main blog, SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY, where you can see all of the designers' creations.  Check them out--they are AWESOME!

Sketch Frenzy Friday--A Quick Card!!

Hi Stampers:

I DO mean a quick card! Jennifer Weide provided the sketch this week, and as soon as I saw it, I had an idea of what I wanted to create, so it came together rather quickly. Here is Jennifer's sketch:

Here's my card:

As you can see, I deviated from the sketch a little bit. The center section is a strip of Beyond the Garden DSP, with Wild Wasabi punched with the Lace Ribbon Border Punch. I also wove a length of 1/8" Daffodil Delight taffeta ribbon thru the strip. The sentiment was stamped on Whisper White in Soft Suede ink and is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and mounted on a large scallop circle punched out of Daffodil Delight card stock. I also included a water colored blossom from the Fabulous Florets set. The blossom was stamped on our watercolor paper and painted with Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango.

Sketch Frenzy Friday--A Square Card

Hi Stampers:

Hope you're all doing well this fine Friday! It is hotter than a bandit's pistol (my mother's phrase) here in good ole Cincinnati--up in the 90's again with killer humidity! Well, at least it's cool in my house, so I could stamp a card for SFF this week. First off, here is our sketch from Tammy Fite:

Cute, isn't it? And here is my creation:

I don't think the photography does it justice, since it is a little crooked and the card seems to be leaning. I adjusted and readjusted my easel, but it never really looked right! This is a different kind of card for me since it is 5-1/2" square. Here's what I used:

  • Wild Wasabi card base, cut 5-1/2" X 11" and scored at 5-1/2" and folded in half.

  • A 5-1/4" square piece of Whisper White cardstock embossed with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions embossing folder.

  • Peach Parfait scallop square cut with the Big Shot and embossed with the Flower Garden Textured Impressions embossing folder. I popped it up over the white layer with Stampin' Dimensionals.

  • Sentiment from the Cottage Garden stamp set and stamped with Early Espresso ink--my favorite for stamping words and sentiments!

  • A length of the so pretty 5/8" organza ribbon.

SFF 6-10-11-A Little Creation

Hi Stampers:

Well, it's Friday again and you know what that means--Sketch Frenzy Friday!!! We have a great and simple sketch this week courtesy of Deb Currier:

And here's my creation:

I can't seem to get away from using Daffodil Delight paired with one of our fabulous greens--this time Wild Wasabi. Here's what I used:

  • Daffodil Delight card base

  • 2-1/2" circle punched Whisper White

  • Charming stamp set: the script stamp was inked in Soft Suede, stamped off twice and then stamped on the white circle and off the edge onto the Daffodil Delight. The flower sprig was inked with Wild Wasabi and Poppy Parade markers and stamped on the circle. The CREATE stamp was inked with Soft Suede and stamped full strength.

  • Punched the scallop lace border punch out of Wild Wasabi

A quick and simple card that took me no more than 10 minutes to create, that is, after I decided what colors and stamp set to use!

Sketch Frenzy Friday--Another MDS Creation!

Hi Stampers:

It's Friday, so that means another Sketch Frenzy Friday! I am using My Digital Studio again. Did I ever tell you that I LOVE MDS? Well, I do! There are so many things you can do with it. I'm explaining a couple of them in my post today.

First, though, here's our sketch from Tina Taves:

And here is my MDS interpretation:

Here's what I used:

  • Beyond the Garden digital Designer Series Paper

  • Card base of Regal Rose--although the DSP pink color is Rose Red, I thought the Regal Rose matched the DSP better on my computer. And here is one of the MDS options: I lowered the opacity of the Regal Rose color to about 60%--I think that made a better match of the base color to some of the DSP flowers.

  • Scalloped circle punch in Wild Wasabi

  • 1-1/4" circle punch in Whisper White

  • Fabulous Florets Stamp Brush set--the leaf sprig in Wild Wasabi and the solid flower is Regal Rose and Rose Red. I put white smaller circles behind the flowers so that the Wild Wasabi sprig color would not show thru the white spaces of the flowers, but when I added the drop shadows to the flowers, the white turned a bit grayish--Oh well, I still like it. I love using drop shadows on EVERYTHING. I think it makes the creation look a little more like a stamped project and therefore more lifelike.

  • A Regal Rose Bow

And there you have it. Please join us and upload your creation at our SFF BLOG.

Sketch Frenzy Friday--Having Fun with Fabulous Florets

Hi Stampers:

Well it's a little late, but I can now post my Sketch Frenzy Friday post. Blogger has been down for the last day and a half, so it's been hard to be patient while they fixed whateer the problem was. Anyway--here we go! The sketch this week is by Patrice Herrera. Patrice is fairly new to the group, but she is loaded with talent, as you will able to tell from this sketch:

The sketch itself is pretty colorful and could be used as-is I think! Here is my interpretation:

As you can see, I turned the sketch on it's side and added a sentiment on the right side. I used a base of Daffodil Delight, 2 strips of Designer Paper from Beyond the Garden DSP, available in the Summer Mini (click on the Order Online button in the right bar of my blog if you want to order),
a large scallop circle punch and a punched Designer Label from Wild Wasabi card stock, a piece of Whisper White card stock--the Wild Wasabi and Whisper White pieces were all embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, and the sentiment is from Curly Cute and stamped on Whisper White using my go-to color for sentiments, Early Espresso. The flower is the large open flower from Fabulous Florets inked with Tangerine Tango and Daffodil Delight. Hope you enjoy it!
