Sketch Frenzy Friday-1-28-11--MDS (I must be addicted!)

Hi Stampers:

It's time once again for Sketch Frenzy Friday. Here is our sketch by Robbie Rubala:

When I first looked at this sketch, I thought "piece of cake!" Boy, was I WRONG!! It was not a piece of cake for me. Let me show you my interpretation:

As you can tell, I just couldn't leave the design alone! First I made a background of Pretty in Pink, and then overlaid two of the design elements with the rounded corner punch stretched out and the 1-1/4" square punch stretched out and flattened and filled both of them with Pattern 2 of the Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper--only available thru My Digital Studion. I then added two layers of the Scallop Circle Punch--one white and a smaller one on top in Pretty in Pink. So, I'm looking at the design and I think, "this needs SOMETHING." So I added a strip of the Satin Ribbon in Pretty in Pink, put my Thank You on the scallop circle punch. The Thank You is from the Curly Cute stamp brush set. I STILL didn'ty like it, so I added a Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon bow. Then the upper right corner looked bare, so I went to the Baroque Motifs stamp brush set and added the swirl. The sentiment and the swirl are both colored Early Espresso. At this point, I decided to leave it alone. It may be a little busy, and it is not exactly as Robbie sketched, but I think it will do. I think I sometimes follow the sketches a little too closely, so I guess it's good to deviate once in a while!
For the next stop on our tour go to MELINDA COUDEN's blog. You can upload your own take on the sketch on the SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY blog, or start the tour there. Thanks for looking.
Enjoy!

Halloween Treats

Hi Stampers:
I mentioned in yesterday's post that I was going to be participating in several vendor fairs over the next couple of months. One of them is on Oct. 30--if you live in Cincinnati, please come! It will be at Brookwood Retirement on Reed Hartman Hwy, 1/2 mile north of I-275. The hours are 10 am to 2 pm. All of the vendors will have treats at their tables for the children who come in costume, so they can have an early Trick or Treat time. Here are some treats I will have at my table:

And here are two close ups of the two different ones I have made--so far:

Sadly, the two stamps I used are no longer available. However, the paper I used IS available. On the Boo Treat, I used the smaller scallop circle and Basic Black card stock, Whisper White card stock, and some of the Night Owl DSP from the Holiday mini catalog. For the Spider treat, I used the larger scallop circle punch with Basic Black card stock. I also used Whisper White and Pumpkin Pie card stock with two of the oval punches. Oh--the candy used is (are?) York Peppermint Patties.

Enjoy!

Sketch Frenzy Friday-9-17-10 Halloween is Coming!

Hi Stampers!

Well, it is just past the middle of September, and fall is definitely coming. And you know what that means--all those wonderful Fallodays! Starting with Halloween. I know it's a little early, but among stampers, it's not TOO early to start planning those Halloween projects. So that's what I did for this week's sketch. The sketch was created by Kathryne Knowles. Since I have been seeing so many Halloween cards on the web, I decided to create one also. Here is my card made with My Digital Studio. I followed the sketch pretty strictly except for the background paper. The card base is Basic Black. The DSP layer is from the Cast-a-Spell and it is Pattern 5. This DSP is only available in MDS. The circle on top of the DSP is in Daffodil Delight. The scalloped circle is Whisper White. The stamp image is Eat, Drink and Be Scary and the saying is from Pumpkin Patch. Both stamp brush sets are only available in MDS--they are retired as stamp sets. But that is the beauty of MDS--these stamp set images are available for ever! The witches hat image and the sentiment are both in Basic Black and the top layer of the modern label punch is Whisper White. The bottom layer is Basic Black. Sketch Frenzy Friday--9-3-10

Hi Stampers!
We have a GREAT sketch for you today:

Our artist for this sketch today is Melinda Couden. Didn't she come up with a wonderful design? And here's my interpretation:

For this card I used Early Espresso and Confetti White card stock, Greenhouse Gala DSP, Peach Parfait and Early Espresso ink, Basic Pearls--centers of the circle images, the polka dots textured impressions folder for the Big Shot, the scallop circle punch and the Word Window punch. I think it turned out pretty good! What do you think?

Happy Stamping!
