Sketch Frenzy Friday-1-28-11--MDS (I must be addicted!)

Hi Stampers:

It's time once again for Sketch Frenzy Friday. Here is our sketch by Robbie Rubala:

When I first looked at this sketch, I thought "piece of cake!" Boy, was I WRONG!! It was not a piece of cake for me. Let me show you my interpretation:

As you can tell, I just couldn't leave the design alone! First I made a background of Pretty in Pink, and then overlaid two of the design elements with the rounded corner punch stretched out and the 1-1/4" square punch stretched out and flattened and filled both of them with Pattern 2 of the Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper--only available thru My Digital Studion. I then added two layers of the Scallop Circle Punch--one white and a smaller one on top in Pretty in Pink. So, I'm looking at the design and I think, "this needs SOMETHING." So I added a strip of the Satin Ribbon in Pretty in Pink, put my Thank You on the scallop circle punch. The Thank You is from the Curly Cute stamp brush set. I STILL didn'ty like it, so I added a Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon bow. Then the upper right corner looked bare, so I went to the Baroque Motifs stamp brush set and added the swirl. The sentiment and the swirl are both colored Early Espresso. At this point, I decided to leave it alone. It may be a little busy, and it is not exactly as Robbie sketched, but I think it will do. I think I sometimes follow the sketches a little too closely, so I guess it's good to deviate once in a while!

Sketch Frenzy Friday-1-21-11--Back to MDS

Hi Stampers!

Well, once again I am back to using MDS for the Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge. Today's sketch was given to us by Melissa Hedine-Tootle, and I REALLY like it! Here it is:

With my interpretation, I had a little bit of difficulty deciding how to do the scallops in MDS. I don't know how Melissa did hers, but for mine I used the wide scallop oval punch overlapped to create the scallops. Here is my take on the sketch:

The card base is textured Old Olive cardstock with a layer of Whisper White on top. The scallops as mentioned before were created with the wide oval punch and colored Old Olive. The flourish and the sentiment are from the Baroque Motifs stamp brush set. I really don't use the Baroque Motifs set very often-either the live set or the MDS set, so this is a change for me. I colored the flourish Certainly Celery, and the sentiment is Early Espresso.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 1-14-11--I stamped!!!!

Hi Stampers!

Yes, I DID stamp. No MDS this week--I actually stamped a card! But first, let me show you the sketch--a great one from Melinda Couden:

And now here is my card:

I had been wanting to play with the new buttons and vintage flowers from the Occasions Mini (if you want to see the Mini look in my left sidebar and click on the image of the cover. My card base is Night of Navy and the layers are Presto Patterns, sponged with Crumb Cake ink, and a strip of one of the designs from the Nature Walk Designer Series Paper that is also in the Occasions Mini. Then I used mini glue dots to stick one of the Very Vanilla Vintage flowers to a Rose Red button--actually 3 of each. Then I mounted them on the card. A simple but elegant card, I think.

SFF--First one for 2011

Hi Stampers:

It's a new year and a new sketch for Sketch Frenzy Friday! Yours truly was the designer for this sketch and truthfully, I thought I would make a little love notes book to give to my DH on Valentine's Day. BUT, Stampin' Up! came out with some new downloads for My Digital Studio and as I was playing with them, lo and behold--a card appeared as if by magic! Anyway, here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

I used the new Love Impressions Designer Paper download--patterns 1, 3, and 4. I also used the Round Tab Punch colored Cherry Cobbler and the Cherry Cobber Seam Binding ribbon. Hope you like it!
