Sketch Frenzy Friday 12-27-13

Hi Stampers!

Christmas is over.  I hope you had a merry one and got everything you wanted!  I know I did!  It's time for another wonderful Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge.  Our sketch was provided by Jennifer:
I love the idea of three's and I love the sketch.  Here's what I did with it:
I chose not to add another sentiment since the banners say it all!  There are 2 sneak peeks from the Occasions Catalog which launches Jan. 3.  The first is the stamp I used:  it is from a new stamp set called Perfect Pennants.  The second sneak peek item is Banners Framelits dies used to cut out the stamp.  The second smallest framelit works perfectly with this stamp.  My colors for the card are Bermuda Bay and Whisper White.  Bermuda Bay is a little more intense color than the picture shows.  I took the picture with my BlackBerry phone, and it looks washed out to me.  My big camera is so old it's a little iffy on whether it wants to take pictures or not.  Plus, we had internet problems, and I couldn't upload anything, so I decided to photograph the card with my phone.  About 2 hours after I did that, our internet started working again, so I was able to do my post. YAY!

I hope you'll go to our SFF Blog and check out all the other designers' creations.  And please join us!  Use the Linky tool to upload your take on the sketch this week.  We LOVE to see what you create!

Happy New Year!
Enjoy!

Sketch Frenzy Friday-11/08/13 More Christmas

Hi Stampers!

Another Friday, and another SFF challenge.  Today's sketch was created by me:
And here is my creation:
Last week, I created a card in MDS using different purples.  Today, I am using Rich Razzlebery, Old Olive, Whisper White, and Silver Glimmer.  The stamp is one of the single Christmas Stamps that Stampin Up! released in the last couple of months.  I LOVE this stamp!  It is called Prince of Peace and the words are from the book of Isaiah in the Bible.  And Handel used these words for one of the choruses in his "Messiah" oratorio.  You probably don't know this, but I have been singing in choirs and doing solos since I was about 6 years old--and believe me, it's been quite a number of years.  Every year, I have to go to a sing-along presentation of the Messiah, and this chorus is one that is always performed.  I get a kick out of singing along with all the other amateur singers in the audience, and they have an orchestra playing also.

Back to the card:  In the sketch I had five banners at the bottom, but since I used the Deco Labels Framelits to cut out the sentiment and the Old Olive piece, only 3 banners worked for me.  The side piece of Silver Glimmer paper, was a partial cut of the smallest Deco Label.  The sentiment and the Old Olive pieces were cut with the next two sizes up.  I also used the Fancy Fan TIEF on the card.  The arrow piece at the top is my experimental part.  I stamped the arrow from A Banner Christmas with Rich Razzleberry.  I then used the double ended Bitty Banners Framelit to cut out the V end and reversed the pointy end to cut it with the same framelit.  Truthfully, I probably could have hand cut it faster, but I wanted to see if the framelit would work.  And it did!

OK, now it's time to check out what the other designers have done.  You can do that at our Sketch Frenzy Friday blogAnd, you can add your own take on the sketch.  Please join us:  we LOVE to see what you create!

CCMCWINTER13-25 Color Challenge

Hi Stampers:

Once again I am playing along with Create with Connie and Mary.  This time it's a color challenge using:

Cherry Cobbler
Crumb Cake
Old Olive

I can't resist that combination--it is my all time favorite for Christmas cards.  Here's my card:
For this card I used a Crumb Cake card base, Season of Style DSP cut into banners and adhered to a Crumb Cake layer that was embossed with the Fancy Fan TIEF.  I stamped one of the ornaments from the Christmas Collectibles set with Old Olive, punched it out with the Ornament Punch, then stamped again with Cherry Cobbler and punched out the center with the 1/2" circle punch.  The center was popped up with a dimensional, and the ornament was also popped up.  I stamped Joyful Tidings from the Christmas Messages set with Cherry Cobbler on Whisper White, then cut it out with the smallest Deco Labels Framelit, sponged it with Old Olive and popped it up on the Crumb Cake with dimensionals.  The Crumb Cake layer was then popped up on the Crumb Cake base with dimensionals.  I am a big fan of popped up layers the same color as the card base. I almost forgot about the strip of 1/8" silver ribbon behind the ornament, and the rhinestones--a strip under the word Tidings, and one in the center of the ornament.

Enjoy!

Sketch Frenzy Friday-11-01-13

Hi Stampers:

It's that time of the week again--Sketch Frenzy Friday! YAY!  Our sketch this week was created by Jennifer:
And here's my creation:
I created this card in MDS.  It's been a while since I created an MDS card, and I wanted to take a break from all the fall, Halloween, and Christmas stuff I've been doing lately and do SOMETHING PURPLE!!!  Yes, purple is my FAVORITE color, and I tend NOT to create with it too often or I would be making everything in purple!  For this card I used three of the purple colors in MDS:  Elegant Eggplant, Rich Razzleberry, and Wisteria Wonder.  The MDS stamp brush sets used are: Bring on the Cake for the Birthday Wishes sentiment and Autumn Elements for the flourishes and flowers.  I also used the Script DSP in Rich Razzleberry and the Dotted Scalloped Ribbon in Elegant Eggplant, along with the Top Note punch shape and the 1-1/4" square punch shape.  All in all, I like it.

Now it's time to check out the other designers on our Sketch Frenzy Friday blogAnd while you're visiting the blog, why not join us in our creativity.  You can upload your creation using the Linky tool on the site.

Enjoy!

Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge CCMC275

Hi Stampers:

Quick post today.  Wanted to share this card I demoed recently at a workshop.  It has Epic Day This and That DSP, Washi Tape, Daffodil Delight Cardstock, Subtles Buttons, White stitched Grosgrain ribbon and last but not least, the Thinlits Expressions word--Thankful.  I love it.  And by coincidence, this happens to fit the sketch challenge on Create with Connie and Mary,  CCMC275 so I thought I would enter!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 09-06-13 MDS Halloween Card

Hi Stampers!

Today on Sketch Frenzy Friday, we have a very creative sketch given to us by Jennifer:
I love the arrangement of elements in this sketch, and I used all of them except the brads in the corners.  I also chose to use MDS for this, since my camera is giving me fits right now, and I couldn't take a picture of the hand stamped card I made!!  I've had this camera since 2008 and it's been thru a lot of abuse in the five years.  Maybe it's time for a new one(hint to my husband!).

Please go to the SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY BLOG and check out all the creations of our designers!  And don't forget to add your own creation with the link tool!  We love to create for you and we love to see your creations!

Latenight Stampers Challenge 230

Hi Stampers:

The Latenight Stampers group has a Summertime challenge going on this week.  I decided to post this card to the challenge:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Gingham Garden Washi Tape and BOTH of our Butterfly punches--although I used only one on this card.  I also love the Hostess Set Express Yourself--the font is so pretty and it has some great sentiments in it.  I used Melon Mambo for the base of my card and the butterfly.  Of course, Melon Mambo is one of the colors in the washi tape.  I textured the Butterfly with the Delicate Designs TIEF and added some rhinestones for a little bling.

Enjoy!

Envelope Punch Board--New item starting today!

Hi Stampers:

Exciting news from Stampin' Up!  We have a new product available starting TODAY!  It is the Envelope Punch Board!

  • It creates totally customizable envelopes in up to 66 different sizes (not to mention a million different color and pattern options depending on the paper you want to use). Even tried and true envelope sizes will only take you moments to create!
  • It's super easy to use; it will go over as a huge wow when you demonstrate it at your events and your customers see it in action. It looks intimidating at first glance, but when they see that all you have to do is measure for the first punch and from there you just turn and score they'll go crazy (in a good way).
  • It's small and lightweight; this makes it easy for you to take it to your events and show it. It's also a great selling point when you show your customers how it's super portable and easy to store. It's small and light enough that they could use it while watching a soccer match, at a park, at a friend's for craft night-anywhere.
  • It even has a slick scoring tool as well as a punch that lets you create rounded corners on your envelopes.
  • It's easy to keep it all together; the stylus storage compartment and two punches are designed into the tool so you don't have a bunch of little pieces to keep track of (even the instructions are printed right on the tool so you won't lose them!).
  • The price is terrific-especially for a tool that does so much!  $19.95 (US)
  • It will be in next year's annual catalog, so it's here to stay.

Enjoy!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 08-30-13

Hi Stampers:

It's Friday and time for Sketch Frenzy Friday.  I have been absent for a while from posting, and I am glad to be back creating with YOU!  Our sketch this week was created by the very talented Deb Currier:

Such a wonderful sketch!  And here's what I did with it:
Yes, I turned it on the side, and did not use the Baker's Twine (although I could have--I decided later, but it was too late!).

Here's what I used:
  • Crushed Curry(#131199), Soft Suede(#115318), and Whisper White(#100730) card stock
  • Sweater Weather DSP--from the Holiday Catalog (#132184)
  • Truly Grateful Stamp Set--from the Holiday Catalog(Clear-#131733, Wood-#131730)
  • 1-1/4" Burlap Ribbon--from the Holiday Catalog (#132140)
  • Crumb Cake(#126975), Soft Suede(#126978), and Crushed Curry(#131173) Classic Stampin' Ink Pads
  • Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker(not available individually)
And, just because I thought the colors looked a little washed out in this picture, I am attaching another picture with a slightly different view:
Don't forget:  All the designers' cards can be seen on the SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY BLOG and you can add your take on our sketch by using the Linky tool also located there.  Please join us!
