Sketch Frenzy Friday--A Square Card

Hi Stampers:

Hope you're all doing well this fine Friday! It is hotter than a bandit's pistol (my mother's phrase) here in good ole Cincinnati--up in the 90's again with killer humidity! Well, at least it's cool in my house, so I could stamp a card for SFF this week. First off, here is our sketch from Tammy Fite:

Cute, isn't it? And here is my creation:

I don't think the photography does it justice, since it is a little crooked and the card seems to be leaning. I adjusted and readjusted my easel, but it never really looked right! This is a different kind of card for me since it is 5-1/2" square. Here's what I used:

  • Wild Wasabi card base, cut 5-1/2" X 11" and scored at 5-1/2" and folded in half.

  • A 5-1/4" square piece of Whisper White cardstock embossed with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions embossing folder.

  • Peach Parfait scallop square cut with the Big Shot and embossed with the Flower Garden Textured Impressions embossing folder. I popped it up over the white layer with Stampin' Dimensionals.

  • Sentiment from the Cottage Garden stamp set and stamped with Early Espresso ink--my favorite for stamping words and sentiments!

  • A length of the so pretty 5/8" organza ribbon.

SFF 7-22-11 Noodling around in MDS

Hi Stampers:

It's Friday and you know what that means--Sketch Frenzy Friday!!! Our sketch this week is presented by Tammy Baldwin:

I liked the idea of using neutral colors, so here's what I did in My Digital Studio:

The square layer under the striped layer is So Saffron, as is the the strip with Thank You on it. The Thank You is from the Curly Cute stamp brush set.

All of our team members at SFF are really talented, so go see what they have done. You can click HERE to to Maria's blog next or HERE to start at the beginning of the tour on the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 070811

Hi Stampers:

I am late, but hope not TOO late posting my card this week!! Here is Tammy's sketch:

And here's my card:

I almost think this qualifies as a CAS (Clean and Simple) card! Here's what I used:

  • Card base of Calypso Coral--so bright and cheerful! Embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing folder.

  • A layer of Lucky Limeade

  • A layer of white with "Hello" stamped in Calypso Coral from the NEW hostess stamp set Posy Punch

  • One of the posies from Posy Punch stamped with Calypso Coral and punched with the Fancy Flower punch

  • A strip of striped paper from the new Designer Series Paper, Just Add Cake. This DSP does not have Calypso Coral as one of the coordinating colors, but I think it works fine with it!

OK, this is my card, now go see what MARIA has for you today. And, check out our Sketch Frenzy Friday blog where you can add your own creation!

Sketch Frenzy Friday--New Stamping Year and IBC

Hi Stampers!

Well, it's a BRAND NEW STAMPING YEAR! Just like Jan 1, July 1 is new year's day in the Stampin' Up! world! If you haven't seen the new Idea Book & Catalog, just click on the the catalog picture in my side bar and you will go right to it. Of course it depends on what time of day you click, because Stampin' Up! will not be ready for new IBC orders until 12:00 noon Mountain Time, which is 2:00 pm Eastern Time. But it is also Sketch Frenzy Friday, so we have eye candy for you to pass the time! Here's the sketch from Robbie Rubala:

I love this sketch! It inspired me to use a lot of texture in my card. Here is my card:

Here's what I used:

  • Not Quite Navy card base

  • Whisper White card stock layer embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

  • A strip of Old Olive card stock embossed with the Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

  • A 2-1/2 X 2-1/2" square of the blue print flowers from the Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper. (on page 184-185 in the IBC)

  • A 2-1/2 X 2" rectangle of the green flowers print from the Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper.

  • A 2-1/2" punched circle of Whisper White card stock. (punch is on page 212 in the IBC), stamped with the larger open petal flower from Fabulous Florets in Not Quite Navy classic ink, and the sprig stamped in Old Olive Classic ink. (Fabulous Florets is available in the Summer Mini, page 22-23). I sponged the circle with Not Quite Navy Classic Ink.

I also stamped and decorated the inside of the card. The flower is the smaller open petal flower from Fabulous Florets and the sentiment is from the Swirls & Curls Verses hostess set in the Summer Mini.

That's all from me. Now, go to Maria's blog and see what she did with the sketch. Or start at the beginning of the mini tour at the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog. And PLEASE join us! Upload your creation to the SFF blog!
